Achieving eight top-5 finishes in 9 European races, Robbie Simpson is proving to be a force majeure on the mountain running circuit. A superbly strong runner on ascents, Robbie is making his mark and is definitely a name we'll be seeing more of in the coming seasons. He was interviewed by Inov-8's Lee Procter at the 2013 Athlete Retreat.

Every two years Open Adventure stage their Coast to Coast Adventure Race which sees competitors follow Alfred Wainwright's original route across the country from Whitehaven to Robin Hood's Bay, competitors make their journey on bike, in kayaks and on foot. This multi-sport event attracts international competitors and is a main-stay on the UK adventure race calendar.

Team Inov-8 athlete Alex Nichols talks about Skyrunning in his build up to the Pikes Peak Marathon in the US, just one of the fixtures of the Skyrunning World Series. The event sees competitors cover 42km and gain nearly 2400m in height finishing at 4300m elevation. Alex came third overall in the 2013 Skyrunning World Series which included many of the world's best mountain runners.

Continuing content derived from Inov-8's 2013 alpine Athlete Retreat, Australian ultra-runner Shona Stephenson is interviewed by Inov-8's Lee Procter and talks about her build up to the 2013 Ultra Trail de Mont Blanc - a 166km single stage ultra-marathon around the Mont Blanc Massif which includes around 9400m ascent.

I was recently commissioned to produce the promo video for the UK round of the 2014 Adventure Race World Series which will take place in Wales - Itera.co.uk.  The race is a 5 day non-stop expedition format which I have filmed in previous years.

The Haglöfs Monochrome Mountain Bike range of clothing was launched at the 2013 Strathpuffer - hailed as one of the world's hardest 24 hour non-stop mountain bike races, the event takes place in the north of Scotland in January and is known for its extremely harsh weather.

Haglöfs' collection of mountain bike clothing is part of the Intense range and is designed to protect you on the mountain in all weathers, all day.

Produced for Inov-8 for a large US retail chain, this video uses visual elements created in 3D space, motion graphics, stills manipulation and video editing software to bring all the elements together. The commercial involved pre-planning through meetings and creative agency input, initial concept planning, visualisation approvals and final edits, in total 4 main pieces of software were used to create the piece. The video commercial is not yet in the public domain and so is as yet unavailable to watch.

Alastair Lee is one of the most successful adventure film-makers to date. I interviewed Alastair for planetFear.com after the release of Autana. The interview was filmed just before he was due to set off for the Antarctic to shoot is his next film, documenting the ascent of the peak known as Ulvetanna on Queen Maud Land, lead by Leo Houlding.

Recently I worked on a project with long-standing adventure athlete Tim Emmett as he introduces his Autumn/Winter 2013/14 collection of clothing for Mountain Hardwear. The video will not be released until mid '13, to fall in line with season change.

UK Marathon Kayaker Ben Brown needed assistance shooting the 2012 International Liffey Descent in the Republic of Ireland, so after turning up a few days early in preparation, we captured what can only be decribed as an epic race of manic proportions. I was carried pillion through thick traffic for duration of the race so that we stood a chance of capturing the whole event. Ben carried out the edit on returning from the event.

Inov-8 produce fitness and running shoes, serving an ever growing customer base they have become known rapidly over the past 10 years as one of the most forward-thinking running and fitness shoe brands. I produced this video to promote their F-Lite range of shoes which is being pushed for 2013.

Working with adventure racers Team Mountain Hardwear, I was asked to produce a short documentary for the 2012 Kendal Mountain Festival, this short piece was shown alongside two of my other short films at this year's festival. Having recently returned from the Raid Adventure Race in France which was the final to the 2012 Adventure Race World Series, the team spoke about how they are able to race for between 5 and 7 days 'non-stop' whilst coping with the 'dark zone' of adventure racing.

The long-standing and excellent European Outdoor Film Tour for 2012 saw the European Outdoor Film School take place for the first time with Moving Adventures Median in Munich and supported by Gore-Tex, I was fortunate enough to get a place on this week long intensive experience working with some of the industry's leading experts. This film is the product of the collaborative effort of the film school attendees including myself.

A short documentary produced by Moving Adventures Median on how we put the final portrait together of the free-skier Caja Schoepf during the European Outdoor Film School 2012.

During 2011 Ant Emmet and Bruce Duncan took on a huge challenge in aid of Cancer Research UK. They would complete the UK's hardest run - The Bob Graham Round, followed by the toughest Cycle - John O'Groats to Land's End, followed by the toughest kayak race - the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Marathon, all back to back over a period of 7 days. I was part of one of the support crews who followed them the whole way. This is the trailer for the 40 minute film available to buy from planetFear.com.

The Original Mountain Marathon or OMM is one of the longest standing and probably best-known 2 day mountain marathon, it sees up to 3,000 entrants every year. I produced this video of the 2012 event that took place in the Howgills of Northern England for planetFear.com.

Taking place for the first time in January 2013 is the UK's first ever night based Mountain Marathon, the organiser of the event Shane Ohly, is aiming it towards the top end of the racer's market. I met up with course planner Charlie Sproson to find out more about the event.

In June 2012 I was commissioned to cover the adidas Terrex Swift Adventure Race. The event saw competitors race for two days non-stop, covering stages that included running, mountain biking, trekking, abseiling, caving and canoeing. The following video was shot as a promo for the event.

Mountain Equipment sponsored athlete Andy Turner is one of the UK's most accomplished winter climbers, having made ascents of the North faces of the Matterhorn and Les Droites, a narrow miss of the Compressor Route on Cerro Torre and multiple Scottish Winter first ascents including The Secret (VIII,9) in 2008. in this interview I talked to Andy about climbing with Dave MacLeod on the UK's longest sea cliff the Longhope Route, a documentary film was made by Hot Aches productions which covered the climb.

The adidas Terrex Coast to Coast race saw competitors travel from Whitehaven - Cumbria on the West coast of the UK to Robin Hood's Bay on the East Coast over two days. The race was what is considered to be a true 'Adventure Race' taking in multiple disciplines such as kayaking, road cycling, mountain biking and running, all with navigational elements. The video was produced for planetFear.com.

In 2010 planetFear.com sponsored a series of events run by Open Adventure called the Endurance Series, the series comprised a 5 hour, 12 hour and 24 hour race, this video was produced for planetFear.com and gives a sense of what is involved in the events.

For 2012/13 Inov-8 brought a new shoe to the market, the Trailroc range. The shoes are designed for use on trails and harder packed ground. The video is a consumer focussed piece aimed at showing the features and benefits of the shoes.
