Gold medal winning Paralympic GB athletes Steve Bate MBE and David Smith MBE look back over the friendship that has formed between them whilst coming to terms with life changing medical conditions and the journeys they've taken on their bikes, these ultimately becoming a mechanism of hope.

Filmed in the Scottish Cairngorms National Park in August 2022, we were experiencing a UK wide heat wave which saw temperatures in the park hitting 30+ degrees celsius. Teravail ambassador Steve Bate had been keen to make a film with his long term friend David Smith for some time. The stories of these two individuals is nothing short of remarkable and the shoot was always much more than a ride out on bikes on some gravel tracks. For David it was a homecoming, a point in time where he could forget temporarily about the life-changing tumour that has affected him so profoundly, for Steve an opportunity to reconnect with David by taking him out on some of the local trails that are often out of reach due to David’s paralysis.
